Men's Fencing Hosts Dan Arnstein '09 Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's fencing team won one of its three matches at the first annual Dan Arnstein '09 Invitational. The event was the Fords' first home competition of the season, held at Haverford's GIAC this past Saturday.

After dropping early matches to MACFA rivals Cornell and Lafayette, the Fords rallied to defeat Rutgers by a 17-10 score.

Captain Max Findley led all fencers on the day with a perfect 9-0 record. Findley's efforts helped the foil team go 14-13 on the day. Haverford's epee squad went 15-12 overall to lead the three weapons. After a tough start, Eric Gardner led all epeeists at 7-2 on the day, including a dramatic 5-4 win over Rutgers to cap the tournament. Sophomore sabrist Ching Li accounted for half of that squad's wins.

The Fords will next attempt to defend their castle will come on Saturday, Dec. 6th, when they host the Tri-Co invitational.
