Men's Fencing Records Three More Victories at MACFA "B" vs. "C"

NEWARK, N.J. – The Haverford College men's fencing team put together another strong weekend of conference competition as the Fords went 3-1 during the MACFA "B" vs. "C" bouts over the weekend. The Fords rolled to victories over Army, Stevens, and Yeshiva, while just being edged out by host NJIT.

Epee won each of its four weapon squad matchups as senior captain Eric Gardner went 11-1 on the day. However, epee also showcased its depth as each of the Fords' epeeists recorded winning records with Kadan Lottick going 7-2, Jake Bassinder finishing at 7-3, and Ian Wheeler posting a 4-1 mark.

Haverford's sabrists matched their epee teammates with 29 victories against just seven defeats over the four rounds of fencing action. Gabriel Braun led the sabre squad with a 9-1 record, while John Hare was 9-2. David Parker notched an impressive 7-3 record, while Henry Li was 4-1 on the afternoon. The sabre team finished the day strong with back-to-back 9-0 blankings of Stevens and Yeshiva.

The Fords' foilists were 3-1 as a weapon squad with a narrow 5-4 defeat at the hands of NJIT. Yan Yan Xie led that group with a 7-2 mark, while Jack Leighninger was 7-4 during the day. Russell Rivera added a 5-4 mark to the team and captain Ching Li recorded a win against Yeshiva.

Men's fencing will host its annual Alumni Match/Banquet this Saturday, February 25. The alumni bouts will get underway at 11 a.m. with the reception to follow. Haverford will return to competition on Sunday, March 5 when it competes at the MACFA Championship.
