2024-25 Men's Fencing Schedule
HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's and men's fencing teams have announced their 2024-25 schedules. Both squads will compete in 12 meets before the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Region Championships, set for March 8. Leading the charge this season is Christine Griffith, who will be in her first year as head coach for both teams.
The season kicks off at the Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University. The women's team will debut at the Nikki Franke Classic on October 26, with the men's team following on October 27. The event honors legendary coach Nikki Franke, who founded the Temple women's fencing program in 1972 and built it into a national powerhouse over her 50-year career.
A week later, both teams travel to Madison, N.J., for the Drew Invitational on November 3, followed by the Vassar Invitational in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on November 10.
On November 17, both squads will compete in the MACFA "C" Round Robin hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
The teams' first home meet will be the D'Arnstein '09 Invitational on December 7, held at Haverford's Alumni Field House.
Following winter break, the Fords will return to competition at the Philadelphia Invitational. Day one (January 17) will take place at the Liacouras Center, while day two (January 18) will be held at the Tse Center on the University of Pennsylvania campus.
Next up is the Penn State Invitational on January 25 in Happy Valley. The Fords then head to Baltimore, Md., for events hosted by Johns Hopkins on February 2. The men's team will compete in the MACFA "A" vs. "C" competition, while the women's team will take part in the Shadow Meet.
On February 16, the men's team will compete at Stevens Institute of Technology in the MACFA "B" vs. "C" competition, while the women's team will participate in the EWFC Championships (location TBA).
February 22 marks the final home event of the season with the annual alumni/ae bouts at Alumni Field House, where current and former fencers will face off.
The season will wrap up with the MACFA and NIWFA Championships at Drew University. The women's team will compete in the NIWFA Championships on March 1, aiming to improve on last season's ninth-place finish. The men's team will hit the strips in the MACFA Championships on March 2, looking to build on their sixth-place result from last year.
The NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional will take place on March 8, with the NCAA Championships held at Penn State University from March 20 to March 23.
