Full Centennial Conference Release
HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's lacrosse team has been picked eighth in the annual preseason Centennial Conference men's lacrosse poll, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. The Fords received 16 total points in the voting.
Coming off a 2024 season in which Haverford narrowly missed out on the Centennial Conference playoffs, the Fords have plenty of positives to build on. One of the highlights of last season was a thrilling 13-12 overtime victory against Franklin & Marshall, a team that was receiving votes in the national poll at the time.
Statistically, Haverford saw significant improvement, increasing its overall win total by two games and setting a program record with 209 goals—up from 136 the previous season. Leading the high-powered offense was junior Reid Tietjen, who topped the Centennial Conference in both goals and points. Head Coach Richard Carrington returns for his second season at the helm.
A key player to watch in 2025 is senior attacker Matt Richards. Richards finished second on the team in points last season with 48 and tied for fifth in the Centennial Conference with 39 goals. His impressive campaign also saw him reach the 100-career point milestone.
Three-time defending champion Dickinson topped the preseason poll with seven first-place votes and 63 total points. Gettysburg followed in second place with 55 points, including the final two first-place votes. Swarthmore ranked third (49 points), while Muhlenberg (46 points) and Washington College (31 points) rounded out the top five.
Ursinus and Franklin & Marshall tied for sixth with 27 points each, while Haverford (16 points) and McDaniel (10 points) completed the prognostication.
Haverford opens the 2025 season on Saturday, February 16, traveling to the Pinnacle Athletic Campus and Events Center in Victor, N.Y., to take on No. 14 St. John Fisher at 1 p.m.
