Big win for men's soccer in opener of Jimmy Mills tourney

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Leading by a goal before a few late-comers were in their seats Saturday afternoon, the Haverford College men's soccer team rolled to a 4-0 non-conference victory over visiting Goucher College in the opener of the Jimmy Mills Tournament at Walton Field.

Adam Morollo staked Haverford (2-1) to a 1-0 lead over Goucher (1-3) just 57 seconds into the contest driving home a cross from Matt Gorski. The Fords went ahead by two before the nine-minute mark as Matt Wetherall buried a cross from David Robinson. David Restropo's goal in the 18th minute, off a second Gorski assist, accented the Fords' dominating attack.

Haverford's offense wasn't the only part of the team clicking Saturday as the midfield and defense made things tough all day for the Gophers limiting the visiting team to only a pair of second-half shots, neither of which were on frame. Goalies Andriy Mshanetskyy and Charlie Michele each played a half between the pipes for the Fords sharing the shutout.

The Fords continue action in the tournament Sunday afternoon when they'll face Gwynedd-Mercy College in a 3:30 p.m. match. Gwynedd played Randolph (Va.) College in Saturday's second game.
