Fords and Pride play to a scoreless tie

CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College men's soccer team owned a 10-5 shot advantage, however, the Fords couldn't find the back of the net and had to settle for a scoreless draw against host Widener University Wednesday night in a non-conference match.

Haverford (3-6-1) applied pressure in the first half getting three of its four shots on target. Widener (3-6-2) keeper Dan Price was up for the task by stopping all three shots on goal. The Fords' Nick Kahn stopped the one Pride shot that came his way in the 30th minute.

The Fords tested Price twice more in the second half. Price made a save in the 54th and 71st minute to keep the game scoreless. Haverford's defense allowed just two shots, but neither attempt was on goal.

In the extra sessions the Fords took three shots but missed the frame on all three. Kahn was forced to make a save to preserve the tie in the game's final 93 seconds.

Price finished with five saves, while Kahn made two stops. The Fords also had a 6-4 corner kick advantage.

Haverford returns to the pitch for a Centennial Conference match against visiting Dickinson College Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.
