Fords edged by #21 Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. - The Haverford College men's soccer team pushed host Rutgers University-Camden to the limit Wednesday night but fell 2-1 in its final non-conference contest of the season.

The Fords (8-6) faced a prodigious challenge in taking on the Scarlet Raptors (12-2-2), ranked 21st in this week's D3soccer.com weekly poll, on their home field as Rutgers-Camden had only dropped one contest at home in the last 24 outings. Looking to continue their home dominance, the Scarlet Raptors jumped out to a 1-0 lead on C.J. Finley's third goal of the season just over a minute into action.

Undaunted by the early deficit, Haverford pressed on and registered six of the next nine shots of the contest. Colin Seitz's fourth goal of the year tied the game at 1-1 in the 24th minute as he knocked home a rebound from Rutgers-Camden goalie Mike Randall's save on a header from Adam Morollo.

As the first half came to a close, the Scarlet Raptors tallied the eventual game-winning goal when Ray El-Khoury headed a ball inside the left post with 28 seconds remaining before intermission.

Looking for the equalizer, the Fords were limited to just two shots on goal in the second half and Randall (12-2-2) stood tall each time.

Haverford goalie Andriy Mshanetskyy (8-5) made three saves in a losing effort.

In the first of three remaining Centennial Conference contests, the Fords welcome McDaniel College to Walton Field on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. match-up. Prior to the game, Haverford's five seniors will be honored in a Senior Day ceremony.
