Yarosh voted to Philly Inquirer academic all-area squad

PHILADELPHIA - Haverford College sophomore Sam Yarosh earned a spot on the Philadelphia Inquirer 2013 Academic All-Area Men's Soccer Team as released this week by the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA).

Yarosh was one of 11 players voted onto the squad by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. In order to be eligible for academic all-area, an athlete must be in at least his second year at the institution and own a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or higher.

A constant threat to score, Yarosh led the team in shots and finished second in goals with six as he registered double figures in points for the second straight season. Yarosh, a member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll this fall, also ranked among the Centennial leaders in points (tied for 10th) and goals (tied for sixth).

Yarosh, a 2013 first-team All-Centennial selection, extended his streak of consecutive career starts to 39 during his sophomore campaign. His steady play in the midfield helped lead the Fords to their first Centennial regular-season title in program history.

A native of West Chester, Pa., Yarosh has made an impact on the field in each of his two seasons in a Haverford uniform as last year he tied for the team lead in goals on his way to earning honorable mention all-conference recognition.
