Season Recap: Men's Soccer Plays for Centennial Championship

Season Recap: Men's Soccer Plays for Centennial Championship

Signature Win: Haverford proved once again during the 2014 season that it can compete with the best teams in the Centennial Conference. Never was that statement more evident than following the Fords' 2-0 win against top-seeded and then-NCAA No. 4 Franklin & Marshall during the semifinals of the Centennial Conference Tournament on the Diplomats' home field.

The Fords' victory marked the first of just two defeats Franklin & Marshall suffered on the year. The other loss was a 2-1 defeat in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. Haverford opened the scoring against F&M in the 13th minute when honorable mention All-Centennial Conference honoree Tejan Walcott finished from close range. Captain Sam Yarosh added the insurance goal in the 84th minute of play to seal the victory. Sam Miller made three saves in the shutout victory.

Haverford put itself in position for that matchup by going unbeaten in its final three Centennial Conference games of the regular season. Those results secured a home playoff game for Haverford. With home field advantage, the Fords dispatched of Johns Hopkins by a 1-0 score in the Centennial Conference Tournament first round game.
