Men's Soccer to Host NCAA Sectional

Updated NCAA Bracket with Site Locations

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The NCAA has selected Walton Field as the host venue for one of the four sectional sites for this upcoming weekend's NCAA Tournament. Game times will be finalized on Tuesday, but the Fords will keep the comfort of their home field as the sectional winner from this weekend's action will punch their ticket to the NCAA Semifinals.

Saturday's action will open up with a pair of sectional semifinals. Haverford (17-3) will battle St. Lawrence (16-3-2) in one semifinal. SUNY Oneonta (17-3-1) will take on MIT (18-2-1) in the other sectional semifinal. The winner of those two matches will play for a spot on the biggest stage on Sunday. Haverford is ranked No. 7 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Poll. SUNY-Oneonta is ranked eighth in that same poll. St. Lawrence and MIT are ranked 13th and 18th, respectively, in the most recent voting of the coaches association.

Haverford, making its fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, won its second NCAA Tournament game this past weekend with a 2-1 victory on Walton Field against Washington and Lee. The Fords have won a program-record 15 straight matches entering the week. The third round of the NCAA Tournament represents the deepest run in an NCAA Tournament in program history.

The Fords now stand among the final 16 teams remaining. Although this is the deepest run in terms of rounds in the program's history, Haverford has stood among the final 16 teams in four of its five NCAA Tournament appearances. In both the 1976 and 1977 seasons, the tournament draw opened with 16 teams. In 1980, the tournament expended to 24 teams and the Fords recorded their first NCAA win in program history against Elizabethtown in overtime to stake their claim among the final 16 competitors.
