COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Haverford College men's soccer team scored three times in the second half to turn a scoreless first 45 minutes into a comfortable 3-0 Centennial Conference victory at Ursinus on Wednesday evening. The Fords (8-4, 5-1 CC) got two goals from Peter Baroff and another from Nick Jannelli to stay within a single point of first place Dickinson heading into this weekend. Haverford remained unbeaten in the month of October with its victory under the lights and has won five straight overall dating back to the 2-0 win against Gettysburg in late September.

The Fords finished Wednesday night's victory with a 12-2 advantage in shots. Despite a 4-1 edge in that statistic after 45 minutes, Haverford put just one shot on goal during the opening half and the two sides went scoreless into the break. However, that would quickly change after the half when the Fords earned their first corner of the night. With the original insert off the foot of Jannelli, Ben Clark was able to redirect that off of his head and find Baroff who beat the keeper in the air just 3:08 into the second half. Clark was credited with the second assist of his career on the play as the senior captain and All-CC defender picked up his first point of the season.

Baroff added the insurance to his first goal during the 52nd minute of play when a beautiful pass from Sykes Cargile put Baroff behind the Bears' defense where he was able to complete an easy finish. Baroff now has five goals this season, four of which have come during the last three Haverford victories. His multi-goal evening tonight was the first of his collegiate career and gives the junior 10 goals for his career. Four of those tallies have been game-winning efforts. Cargile recorded his first assist this season on the play, giving him three for his career.

Jannelli put a cap on Haverford's scoring for the evening as he tallied his eighth goal of the season during the 73rd minute of play. Finishing with his left foot on Wednesday, Jannelli now has a point in each of Haverford's victories during this five-game winning streak. He has scored a goal during four of those contests and is tied for second in the Centennial Conference in goals and points. The 29th goal of his career ties him for 14th place in the Haverford College record books with Brady Seitz '16. Tonight's goal also gives him 70 career points, tying him with Frank Cary 1916 for the 16th highest total in school history.

With much of the action happening in front of the Ursinus goal all evening, Michael Iacono went untested during his 45 minutes in goal during the first half. Jeremy Astesano made his season debut at the start of the second half and made Haverford's only save of the night as the Fords recorded their fourth Centennial Conference shutout victory of the season.

Men's soccer will return home this Saturday for a 3 p.m. showdown with first-place on Walton Field. Prior to that match, the Fords will host Senior Day and honor the 11 members of the team who are a part of Haverford's Class of 2019.
