Dylan Ioffreda Selected as CC Defensive Player of the Week

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Dylan Ioffreda has been selected as the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after making 20 combined saves against No. 16 Rowan and No. 3 Johns Hopkins. Ioffreda's honor is the first of his career as his week was highlighted by an 11 save shutout against Johns Hopkins during the Fords' conference opener which resulted in the highest-ranked win in program history.

Playing a pair of nationally-ranked opponents, the Haverford College men's soccer team certainly rose to the occasion with a 2-2 draw against Rowan and a 1-0 victory against Johns Hopkins. Ioffreda made what was a the time a career-high nine saves against Rowan as the Profs were only able to find the back of the net with exactly 24 seconds remaining in each half to salvage the draw.

Haverford's first-year topped that performance against JHU as he stopped a career-high 11 shots in the 1-0 road victory. Those 11 saves allowed the Fords to overcome a shot disparity as Kevin Kaufman tallied in the first half for the only goal that Haverford needed.

Splitting time in goal so far this season, Iofredda has started three of his five appearances and holds a 2-0-2 record as the goalie of record. He has posted a 0.54 GAA in 332:40 of playing time and has stopped 92.6% of the shots on goal he has faced. Ioffreda is currently leading the conference in both total saves (26) and save percentage. His save percentage is ranked sixth in all of Division III while his GAA also ranks among the top 30 nationally.

The Fords are off to a 3-1-2 start overall and have recorded shutouts in four of the team's first six matches. Those four shutouts rank as the second-highest total among all teams in the Centennial Conference.

Men's soccer has another huge week on the docket as the Fords travel to Rutgers-Camden this Wednesday for a 7 p.m. non-conference match before returning to Centennial Conference play this Saturday against Franklin & Marshall at 1 p.m. Rutgers-Camden is off to a 7-2 start on the season and just beat No. 19 Montclair State in its last outing. The Franklin & Marshall contest on Walton Field will be a rematch of last year's Centennial Conference Championship match which resulted in a 3-2 double overtime victory for Haverford.
