HAVERFORD, Pa. – After helping to lead the Haverford College men's soccer team back to the Centennial Conference Tournament, Nick Jannelli has been named the Centennial Conference's Offensive Player of the Week. The honor is the first of Jannelli's senior campaign and the sixth overall during his decorated Haverford career.

The Fords needed a 2-0 week to make the Centennial Conference Tournament and they got just that with a 3-2 victory over Ursinus and a 3-1 win on Senior Day against rival Swarthmore. The Fords were down a goal twice in the second half against Ursinus, but ultimately stayed alive with a comeback win. Just 20 seconds after the visiting Bears went up 2-1 late in the second half, Jannelli scored his 11th goal of the season to knot the match at two-all before setting up the game-winning goal with just 4:14 left in regulation time.

Haverford jumped on Swarthmore early and often during its Senior Day victory over the Garnet. Jannelli assisted on the first and third goals of the opening half as the Fords capitalized on three of their five corner kicks during the opening 45 minutes. Finishing the regular season with 11 goals and eight assists, Haverford's senior captain is leading the Centennial Conference in points for the second straight season, concluding the regular season with 30 points. He also holds the conference lead in shots with 88 on the year.

Heading into the postseason, Jannelli has scored 45 goals and assisted on 24 more for a total of 114 career points through 75 career matches. That point total currently ranks fourth in school history while his goal and assist totals rank fourth and seventh, respectively, all-time. Those marks are in addition to his school records for both game-winning goals (16) and penalty kicks made (11).

Men's soccer will be making its ninth straight appearance in the Centennial Conference Tournament. For the seventh straight season, the Fords' postseason campaign will begin on Walton Field. The 2019 postseason gets underway on Wednesday afternoon as the fourth-seeded Fords host fifth-seeded Gettysburg in a 2 p.m. first round match.
