HAVERFORD, Pa.. - The Haverford College men's soccer team (1-2-6, 0-1-2 CC ) was upended by No. 22 Muhlenberg (6-1-1, 2-0-1 CC ), falling 3-0, in the Fords' third Centennial Conference match of the season on Wednesday afternoon at Swan Field.

The Mules started off quickly with their first dangerous chance coming in just the third minute of the game. After a teasing ground pass by Muhlenberg's Taylan Akdag, Mules' midfielder Sebastian Tis ripped a shot hard and to the near post, only to be parried away by Haverford shot stopper Dylan Ioffreda.

A little over seven minutes later, Haverford had their first chance of the contest. First year midfielder Aidan Lacy rifled a shot that was blocked before receiving a hard challenge from the Muhlenberg defense. Just a minute later, Lacy had another chance on goal, as he pounced on a ball serviced back into the box, only to have it saved by an on running Ben Mulford.

A warning strike was sent to the back four of Haverford in the 22nd minute, when Muhlenberg's Chris Richards volleyed a laser from outside the box that got past Ioffreda and spiked off the crossbar.

After a few more chances from the Mules, Muhlenberg found the back of the net with a goal from Noah Pietila. Pietila hammered home a ball that was pinging around the box to score his first of the season, giving the Mules a 1-0 lead.

The Mules struck again in the 68th minute, this time off a dangerous set piece. A teasing lofted ball from Muhlenberg's Evan Schlotterbeck, found the head of midfielder Kevin Adams, to extend the Muhlenberg lead to 2-0.

Then, just under 20 minutes later, the floodgates opened up and Muhlenberg found its third goal of the contest. A shot from Tis forced a fantastic stretching save from Ioffreda who knocked the ball to his left. However, Mules midfielder Abraham McWilliams was right on the doorstep and slotted in the rebound goal to give the Mules a 3-0 lead with under four minutes to go.

That goal would be the final in the contest as the Fords fell 3-0 to the Mules. Adams and Akdag led Muhlenberg in shots with four, while Lacy paced Haverford in shots with two. The Mules had the clear advantage in the shot category outshooting the Fords 24-4. Despite the loss, Ioffreda led the contest in saves with five.

The Fords look to bounce back this Saturday, as they travel to Carlisle, Pa. to take on the Red Devils of Dickinson College. Kick off is slated for 7 p.m.
