ST. LOUIS - Haverford College men's tennis first-year player and Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year Marko Arboleda will face off against sophomore Kael Shah of Denison in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Singles Tournament on Sunday morning (10 a.m. ET) at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.

Arboleda, the 20th ranked player in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic South region, enters the NCAA tournament after ranking second among singles players in the NCAA's Region III. The first-year from Chappaqua, N.Y., went 15-6 in his rookie singles campaign, including an 11-4 mark in dual-match action. Arboleda was 9-3 at the first flight and won six of his last nine singles matches.

Shah is currently ranked No. 10 in the ITA national singles rankings. He has a 29-5 overall record in singles, an 18-4 record in dual matches (flights 1-3), and is 9-1 at No. 1 singles. No. 8 Denison recently advanced to its first Elite Eight in program history, falling to the University of Chicago on Tuesday by a 5-3 decision.

The individual championships consist of 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. The selection of teams and individuals for the championships is based on won-lost record, strength of schedule, and the eligibility and availability of student-athletes.

Kevin Caulfield was the last Haverford men's player to reach the national tournament, doing so during the 2013 campaign as a senior. In total, Arboleda becomes the sixth selection in program history for the NCAA singles tournament.
