Softball Logs Sixth-Best GPA in Division III, 18 Named NFCA/Easton Scholar Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its 2022-23 Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete Awards on Tuesday afternoon, with the Haverford College program earning the sixth-highest GPA in Division III. The mark was good for top in the Centennial Conference as the Fords placed above Swarthmore, the second-ranking squad in the Centennial, as the Garnet were locked in a tie with the 11th-best GPA in Division III. 

In addition to the team award, a total of 18 Haverford athletes were named to individual Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete honors. To qualify for this distinction student-athletes must have maintained at least a 3.5 or better cumulative GPA for the 2022-23 academic year.

Softball student-athletes earning the award for Haverford included: Maddie Etheridge, Sarah Fan, Madison Hujber, Molly Kaufman, Mia Kessinger, Nikki Kingsland, Jocelyn Leal, Abby Litchfield, Abby Marquis, Rachel McQueen, Abby Olivier, Carley Parsons, Tessa Pearlstein, Susie Pieper, Addie Sapirstein, Anna Stowe, Kaila Uyeda, and Carina Whiting

The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories. NCAA Division I led the way with 2,515 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2022-23. NCAA Division III followed with 2,369 and NCAA Division II with 1,790. Junior Colleges and NAIA came in with 944 and 666 student-athletes respectively.
