Russ Hartz joined the Haverford College softball team as an assistant coach prior the 2018 season. Hartz brings over 10 years of coaching experience from the local ranks, serving most recently as the head coach of the Exton Millennium 18U Premier Gold team.

Spending those 10-plus years with the Exton Little League Softball and the Exton Millennium Travel teams, Hartz has been coaching with the traveling organization since the 2011 season. Starting with the 10U travel team, he moved up to the 12U team and was named head coach of the 14U team in 2014. Holding that position until 2016, he capped a memorable final season with three tournament championships and a third place finish at PONY Nationals. As the 16U travel team head coach the following season, he led his team to a 21st place finish at TCS National Tournament before being named the head coach of the 18U Premier team in the fall of 2017.

Hartz got his start in coaching as a member of the Exton Softball Little League as he spent 11 years as a head coach. Coaching the all-star teams from 2012-14, he helped Exton little league to a state championship in 2014. He also led those all-star teams to district championships during each of his three seasons, reaching the Pennsylvania State Championship game twice in his career.

Graduating from Penn State with an undergraduate degree in operations management, Hartz went on to earn his Juris Doctor Degree from Villanova’s School of Law. He currently works as the Head of Mergers and Acquisitions for ANSYS, Inc.
