EASTON, Pa. – The Haverford College women's fencing team was represented by four individuals at the Mid-Atlantic/South NCAA Regional on Saturday. The Fords' regional is widely considered the strongest in the NCAA with Division I fencing programs Penn, Temple, Penn State, Duke, North Carolina, Princeton, NJIT, and Fairleigh Dickinson all in the field.

Haverford had at least one fencer compete in each of the three weapons, including two sabrists. Anna Neuheardt earned the Fords' highest placement with a 27th place showing. She recorded wins against Temple's Jessica Rockford and Fairleigh Dickinson's Jillian Habersaat. The sophomore was also tied with Duke's Jennifer Lang at four-all before the Blue Devil secured the decisive fifth touch to deny Neuheardt advancement to the final 24 sabrists.

Emily Brown defeated Johns Hopkins' Natalie Martinez and had touches in three of her other four bouts. She finished in 33rd place overall. Both sophomores, Neuheardt and Brown were each making their second appearance in as many seasons at the NCAA Regional. Brown moved up three positions from her placement a year ago, while Neuheardt was a two spot improvement.

Foilist and co-captain Alexandra Morrison was making her third appearance at the regional meet in as many seasons for the Fords. Finishing in 33rd position, the junior improved on her seed coming into the day by two spots. Her victory came in a 5-1 win over Nicole Strezewski of Stevens.

First year epeeist Katie Bradley qualified to the regional competition in her rookie campaign after only picking up the sport during the fall semester at Haverford. Although unable to come away with a win, she gave Amanda Choy of Stevens all she could handle in a 5-3 defeat. Choy ultimately earned advancement to the ensuing rounds and Bradley placed 36th in the field.

With the conclusion of the season, the Fords' future appears bright as all of their regional contestants are back for at least one more season. Haverford will lose seniors Amira Abujbara, Diana Schoder, and Sofia Tieze to graduation, but should reap the benefits of the experience gained by the underclassmen in the coming years.
