Four Fords named to the IWLCA All-Metro Region Team

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Four Haverford College women's lacrosse players were named to the 2011 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Metro Region team that was released Thursday.

Midfielder Josie Ferri is a first team selection for the second consecutive season. As first team pick, Ferri will move on to the national ballot for All-America team consideration. Ferri, a two-time All-Centennial Conference first team member, led the Fords with 73 points, 51 goals, 22 assists, 13 free-position goals and six game-winning goals.  Only a junior, Ferri also was tops on the team by accumulating 46 ground balls, 34 caused turnovers, 31 draw controls, She ranked first in the conference in game-winning goals, third in caused turnovers, fourth in goals and points and sixth in assists.

Senior midfielder Kayleigh Herrick-Reynolds, senior defender Kristin Sockett and junior goalie Leah Hammerschlag are all second team picks. All three players were named to the 2011 All-Centennial Conference second team.

Herrick-Reynolds was second on the squad in points (37), goals (25) and free-position goals (12). She was third in draw controls (26) and assists (12).

Sockett, now a two-time all-region second team pick, was third on the team in caused turnovers (12) and fifth in ground balls (18). She helped anchor a defense that finished fourth in the Centennial Conference in goals against average (8.53).

Hammerschlag was fifth in the conference in goals against average (8.73) and saves (107) and sixth in save percentage (.446). She was the goalie of record in nine of the Fords' 10 wins. Her goals against average is 21st in Division III.

Haverford went 10-7 overall in 2011. The Fords qualified for the Centennial Conference tournament for the second year in a row.
