Ferri, Schmidt, Downing named to IWLCA academic honor roll

GRAND LAKE, Colo. – Josie Ferri, Jen Schmidt and Perrin Downing of the Haverford College women's lacrosse team have been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's (IWLCA) 2012 Division III Academic Honor Roll.

The Haverford trio join 243 other student-athletes from more than 90 D-III colleges on the 2012 listing. Honorees, who must be juniors or seniors, were nominated by their respective coaches.

Ferri, a 2012 graduate, was named an IWLCA All-American in 2011 and is a three-time member of the Philadelphia Inquirer Women's Lacrosse Academic All-Area Team (2012, 2011, 2010). She was voted an IWLCA All-Metro Region performer twice and an All-Centennial Conference player four times. Ferri is also the Centennial's 2012 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee.

Schmidt, also a 2012 graduate, was named to the Centennial's 2012 spring all-sportsmanship team and earned a spot on the conference's 2012 academic honor roll.

Downing is a rising senior on the Haverford team. She was a 2012 honorable mention all-conference player and has twice been named to the Centennial academic honor roll.

Ferri majored in psychology with a concentration in neural behavioral sciences. Schmidt graduated from Haverford after majoring in chemistry while minoring in biochemistry and psychology. Downing is a biology major concentrating in the neural behavioral sciences.
