Fords rally past McDaniel, 11-7

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Diana Perry registered four goals and one assist to help the visiting Haverford College women's lacrosse team get past McDaniel College in Centennial  action on Saturday afternoon.

Shaking off an early 2-0 deficit, the Fords (7-2, 1-1 CC) scored five of the next six goals of the contest to move out to a 5-3 advantage with six and a half minutes remaining until intermission.

Perrin Downing began the rally with an unassisted tally at 19:12 and after the Green Terror (5-4, 1-1) answered back two minutes later, Haverford struck for four straight over the next 10 minutes of play. Megan Gallagher's 14th of the season began the surge that saw Gallagher tally her 15th of the year in between Perry's first and second goals of the day.

The two squads traded goals in the closing minutes of the half as Danielle Entrot brought the hosts to within one before Downing's second of the game restored the Fords' two-goal advantage at the break.

Haverford extinguished McDaniel's thoughts of a comeback with two more goals in the initial 10 minutes of the second half. Perry converted an Elyse Adler feed at 26:03 and Grace Stockbower pushed the Fords' lead to four with an unassisted tally at the 20-minute mark.

Samantha Barbeito cut into Haverford's cushion five minutes later but Stockbower quickly responded with her sixth of the season off a look from Hannah Morgan.

After the Green Terror moved within three at 9-6 with just under 13 minutes left on the clock, the Fords went to work on offense once more and Perry broke through for her 29th of the season at 8:47.

Stockbower's season-high third goal of the day provided Haverford with its largest lead of the contest at 3:47 before Julia Jacobs closed out the scoring with just over a minute remaining.

Shannon Horn (6-2) made five saves to earn her second consecutive victory.

Entrot paced McDaniel with three goals while Jacobs added two. Goalie Lily Galzerano (3-2) suffered her second loss of the season despite six saves on the day.

The Fords have now surpassed last season's win total (six) with eight regular-season contests remaining on the schedule.

Looking for its third straight victory, Haverford faces another Centennial test on Wednesday when Muhlenberg College visits Swan Field at 7 p.m.
