WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Haverford College women's lacrosse team's second half comeback fell short as it lost to the McDaniel Green Terror 9-7 at Gill Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

It took only two minutes and 33 seconds for the home team to get on the board with a tally from Emily Brownawell. Under a minute later, the Green Terror added a second goal off the stick of Maggie Quinn. McDaniel recorded a third goal at the 22:36 mark before Haverford's Hannah Morgan got the visitors on the scoreboard with 20:34 to go in the first half. The home team tacked on two more goals to take a 5-1 lead, but freshman Molly Lausten kept the Fords within striking distance with 30 seconds to go. Abby Phillips registered the sixth goal of the contest for the Green Terror with eight seconds on the clock to make the halftime score 6-2.

Sophomore Sarina Manetta posted a goal to begin the second half scoring with 27:47 to go in the game. The Green Terror countered 16 seconds later with another goal from Quinn to push their lead back to four. For the second time in the half, the Fords cut their deficit to three, this time with a goal from Elyse Adler, but McDaniel answered with two straight goals.

Head coach Lauren Wray's squad made one more run at McDaniel. With 13:33 to go, Lausten sent one past McDaniel goalkeeper Lily Galzerano for her second of the game. Senior Dayna Kim kept the Fords' momentum going with a goal at the 8:34 juncture of the second stanza. Senior Diana Perry added her team-leading 31st goal of the season with 2:18 remaining. The Fords had two more shots over the final two minutes, but Galzerano kept them off the scoreboard. Haverford controlled the pace of play in the second half, outshooting McDaniel 22-6 and picking up five more draw controls.

Lausten had a team-high two goals, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. The freshman has scored in every game this season and has now reached the 20-goal milestone. With Perry's goal, the senior has now scored in 11 straight outings. The Fords finished with 23 shots on goal, but only converted 4-of-11 free position opportunities.

Quinn's game-high four goals paced the Green Terror offense while Samantha Barbeito and Phillips had two goals. Galzerano made 16 saves in the victory.

Haverford drops to 6-4 on the season and 1-1 in the Centennial Conference while McDaniel improves to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Fords will take on Muhlenberg at Swan Field on Wednesday beginning at 5 p.m. before traveling to No. 19 Dickinson next Saturday.
