Women's Lacrosse Downed by Washington and Lee

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Haverford College women's lacrosse team (1-2) was edged by Washington and Lee (1-4) in a tight road game on Wednesday evening at Watt Field. A back and forth affair, the game saw three lead changes and three ties.

The Generals struck first, less than 30 seconds into the contest, and then again just minutes later. Haverford erased the 2-0 deficit with three straight goals, including two by Molly Lausten. Lausten finished the game with four goals on five shots. She now has a team-high nine goals on the year.

Christina Gould scored Haverford's next two goals, her fifth and sixth of the season. Gould, a senior midfielder, is on pace to set a new career-high in scoring this season. She found the back of the net 22 times her sophomore year.

In the second half, Maura Grant, Allie Gibbons, and Courtney Carter each scored one goal. The Fords cut Washington and Lee's lead to one on three sererate occasions but the Generals had answers. Finally, Washington and Lee pulled away after scoring two goals with under four minutes remaining.

In net, goalie Megan Chenworth tallied eight saves on 21 shots for the Fords.

Haverford's next game will be at home on Friday against Cabrini College. The game is set to begin at 4 p.m. at Swan Field.
