HAVERFORD, Pa. The Haverford College women's lacrosse team has been named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad for the 2020-21 academic year, the organization announced in a release on Tuesday afternoon. In addition, Haverford set a new program record with 14 student-athletes named to the Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll, eclipsing the previous high of eight honorees following the 2019 season. The 14 selections represented the most in Division III.

Haverford was one of 285 programs from across Divisions I, III, III and the NAIA selected as academic honor squads for the 2020-21 academic year. In order to qualify, programs must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA during the academic year. The Fords have earned this distinction every year since 2013.

To be selected to the academic honor roll, student-athletes must be a junior or senior and have accumulated a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. The IWLCA honored 766 Division III student-athletes in total from 282 DIII institutions.

Recent graduates Isabel Canning (political science), Belle McMahon (chemistry), Hailey Morris (chemistry), Julia Pascarella (Biology), and Amelia Slade (economics) picked up the award in addition to juniors Caroline Alexis (economics), Sarah Cahn (political science), Callie Crawford (chemistry), Claire DuBois (environmental studies/Spanish), Roma Hladky (physics), Maria Krieg (chemistry), Hannah Lopez (economics), Kate Severtson (psychology), and Abby Wolfenden (English).

The Fords will now await the release of the IWLCA Academic Merit Squads, which is expected to be announced in early August.
