Full IWLCA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Senior midfielder Roma Hladky and defender Maria Krieg have joined junior attacker Katharine Ference on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Metro region teams, the organization announced in a release on Thursday. In total, the IWLCA has honored 272 student-athletes in Division III with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2022. These student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team.

Hladky, of Randolph, N.J. earned a spot on the coveted first team after picking up US Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-America honors earlier this week. Hladky led the Centennial Conference in goals (57), including a CC-best 36 tallies in conference competition. In addition to that impressive goals mark, she posted multiple goals in all but one game this season, including a season-best seven on two occasions, reaching that benchmark against Washington College (Apr. 16) and Swarthmore (Apr. 23). The physics major and Ambler Scholar Athlete was a force on draws as well, with multiple draw controls won in 13 games, and multiple ground balls on five occasions during a dominating senior campaign.

Krieg picked up second-team honors after a first-team All-Centennial Conference campaign. The Farmingdale, N.Y. product emerged as a lockdown defender for the Fords during her senior season, as she started all 18 games, collecting a team-best 45 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers while also grabbing four draw controls. Krieg ranks third in the Centennial in ground balls and 20th in caused turnovers. F

Ference had a breakout junior season to earn a place on the All-Region second team after first-team All-Conference honors, proving to be one of the most vaunted attack threats in the Centennial Conference with a prowess for finding the open player with a crafty pass. The Sewickley, Pa. product took the Centennial by storm in her junior season, becoming the top helper in the conference with 50 total assists and 23 goals during her 18 games started. She finishes the season with 73 points, good for third in the Centennial Conference overall and 48 points in conference games.

Ference also has a knack for earning possession in big moments, with 76 draw controls. That total is a Haverford single-season program record. She also earned the Haverford single-game record with a whopping 12 draw control wins in the CC semifinal loss to Franklin & Marshall, shattering the previous mark of nine held by her teammate Callie Crawford.

Haverford recently completed one of the finest seasons in program history, logging a 12-6 overall record and a berth in the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 1991 season while staying in the national rankings for the vast majority of the year, peaking at their current flight of No. 22.  The Fords will now await the release of the IWLCA All-America teams, which will be released on May 26.
