Academic Honor Squads

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's lacrosse program was named a 2022 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad, while 12 individual student-athletes also earned IWLCA Academic Honor Roll distinction for the 2021-22 academic year, the organization announced in its annual academic awards release today.

The IWLCA honored 1,104 student-athletes from 194 different institutions on the 2022 IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. To qualify as an Academic Honor Squad, teams must post a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the previous academic year.

Seniors Caroline Alexis, Sarah Cahn, Callie Crawford, Maria Krieg, Hannah Lopez, and Kate Severtson joined juniors Julia Curran, Joanna Gengo, Lia Herzig, Roma Hladky, Lauren Kinne, and Sam Silverman in earning the individual recognition from the IWLCA.

Haverford (12-6, 7-2 CC) finished its season with a trip to the NCAA Tournament, the program's first since the 1991 season. The Fords were ranked as high as No. 22 in the national rankings, and entered the postseason holding steady to that rank.

The Fords bowed out after a tough fight against No. 6 Franklin & Marshall in the Centennial Conference semifinals and were forced to sweat out a potential at-large berth to the NCAA tournament, a call they enthusiastically received on Selection Monday with a trip to Ithaca College to do battle with local foe Cabrini in the first round, falling 18-15 in that NCAA First Round showdown in New York.
