Ference and Mikulis Named to PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Honors

Full PhillySIDA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College women's lacrosse student-athletes Katharine Ference and Tiffany Mikulis were each named a selection to the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area team, the organization announced in a release on Tuesday.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area, an athlete must be in their second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Ference, who also picked up USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America honors and participated in the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game earlier this month, proved to be a leader yet again for a young Fords squad, starring as one of the best attackers in the nation over the past two seasons en route to earning Haverford's Kannerstein Award.

The Sewickley, Pa. native made her presence felt as the now two-time All-Region player holds the Haverford career record for draw controls per game (3.9). She was named a First-team All-CC selection on the attack for a second consecutive season, proving to be one of the most vaunted offensive threats in the Centennial Conference.

Ference was in the top five in the conference for points (79) and assists (33), while also in the top 10 for goals (46), draw controls (88), and free-position goals (10).

Mikulis, of Hopkinton, Mass. was named Centennial Conference Midfielder of the Year as a Haverford athlete earned that honor for the second year in a row.

She was a force to be reckoned with, as she is Haverford's single-season draw control leader (91) and ranked within the top five in the conference for goals (63), points (74), ground balls (47), shots on goal (82), and free-position goals (13). Last month, Mikulis was recognized with a second-team IWLCA All-America selection as well as a third-team USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America selection.
