Women’s Lacrosse Selected Picked Third in Centennial Conference Poll

Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College Women's Lacrosse team has been selected third in the annual preseason Centennial Conference Women's Lacrosse poll, the league office announced in a release this afternoon.

Eyeing an eighth Centennial Conference tournament appearance since 2014, the Scarlet and Black will be led by Katie Wertman, who will be entering her seventh season as head coach of the Fords.

Coming off an impressive 7-2 conference record and a 12-6 overall record just a season ago, Wertman and the Fords look to make the NCAA tournament for the second time in three years after making an appearance in 2022, the program's first since 1991.

One key returner to watch out for this season is reigning All-American Tiffany Mikulis.. The reigning Centennial Conference Midfielder of the Year ranked within the top five in the Centennial Conference for goals (63), points (74), ground balls (47), shots on goal (82), and free-position goals (13) during her sophomore season. She also became Haverford's single-season draw control leader last season with a whopping 91.

Another returner to keep an eye out for this season is junior defender Eva Baumann. A first team All-Centennial Conference member a year ago, Baumann racked up 23 caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls in a breakout 2023 campaign.

In a highly competitive women's lacrosse conference that sees a total of three ranked teams represented in the ILWomen/IWLCA preseason poll, it is No. 2 Gettysburg who was tabbed first in the Centennial Conference, collecting seven first place votes, and 79 voting points.

No. 4 Franklin & Marshall claims the second spot in the Centennial Conference poll, grabbing the three final first place votes and 75 voting points. Haverford (third, 64 points), Washington College (fourth, 55 points), Ursinus (fifth, 47 points), and Muhlenberg (sixth, 41 points) solidify the projected Centennial Conference playoff teams for 2024.

Dickinson (seventh, 36 points), Swarthmore (eighth, 27 points), McDaniel (ninth, 16 points), and Bryn Mawr (10th, 10 points) wrap up the 2024 Centennial Conference preseason poll.

Haverford College Women's Lacrosse begins their 2024 journey on the road, heading to take on Cabrini for the final time on Wednesday, February 21, at 4 p.m.

The Centennial Conference tournament will begin with first round matchups on May 1, while the semifinals and finals are slated for May 3 and 5.
