Back to the Dance! Women's Lacrosse Earns NCAA Tournament Berth

NCAA Bracket

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's lacrosse team, checking in at No. 24 in the latest IWLCA Coaches Poll, has earned an at-large berth to the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The Fords (12-6, 6-2 CC) will travel to Salisbury, Md. for an NCAA First Round contest against the Cavaliers of Cabrini University (14-4), the champions of the Atlantic East Conference, on Saturday.

This is Haverford's sixth appearance in the NCAA tournament (1986, 87, 88, 1991, 2022, 24) overall and second in three seasons. Haverford is no stranger to matchups with Cabrini, as the two sides met in the season opener this year, with the Fords coming away with a 15-10 victory at Edith Robb Dixon Field in Radnor.

The teams have met yearly in recent seasons, and also matched up in Haverford's last NCAA tournament appearance in 2022, with the Cavaliers grabbing an 18-15 victory in a first-round contest in Ithaca, N.Y. Cabrini went a perfect 6-0 in Atlantic East play and claimed the Atlantic East conference title with wins over Neumann and Marymount this past weekend.

The winner of the Haverford/Cabrini contest will advance to take on No. 5 Salisbury. Salisbury enters the NCAA tournament with a 14-3 overall record including a perfect 2-0 slate in Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) play. The Sea Gulls claimed their fourth consecutive and 22nd overall conference title on Saturday, earning a 15-4 victory over No. 21 Christopher Newport to clinch.

Haverford has not matched up with Salisbury since the 1989 season, and last claimed victory over the Sea Gulls in April of 1988 at Haverford.

The 2024 NCAA Division III National Championship is slated for Sunday, May 26 at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Va. More information on the NCAA tournament, including game times, ticket information and a full preview, will be available later this week.
