Squash teams have busy weekend in Beantown

BOSTON – The Haverford College men's and women's squash teams played multiple matches this weekend against a few schools that reside in New England. The men fell to Boston College, 8-1, before defeating Bryant University, 9-0, Saturday. Sunday the men lost to Northeastern University, 8-1. The women lost to Wellesley College, 9-0, Saturday and Northeastern, 6-3, Sunday.

The men won in convincing fashion over Bryant with all nine wins coming in straight sets. Alex Spiliotes, Andy McComas, Zef Konst, Chris Tyson, Matt Liscovitz, Robbie Thompson, Zeek Barnett, Charlie Michele and Peter Boal were all victorious for the Fords.

Against Wellesley, the bottom of the women's lineup showed signs of improvement. Newcomers Kara Percival and Eliza Williams picked up victories at the Nos. 7 and 8 positions in straight sets. Alisa Strayer pulled out a five-set win at No. 9. Strayer won the first two sets and took an exciting fifth set, 14-12.

The men sit at 3-3 while the women are now 0-4 on the season. Both teams travel to Drexel University this weekend. The women take on the Dragons Friday at 6 p.m. and the men play Saturday at 10 a.m.
