Squash teams split with Hopkins; men win 6-3

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College squash teams hosted Johns Hopkins University Saturday at the GIAC Squash courts. The men were victorious, 6-3, while the women fell 8-1.

The men received victories from the top-five positions. Alex Spiliotes, Andy McComas and Zef Konst all won in straight sets and the Nos. 1-3 spots. Matt Liscovitz rebounded from a first set loss to take the next three at No. 4. Chris Tyson swept his opponent at No. 5 and Zeek Barnett pulled out a 3-1 win at No. 8.

Kara Percival was awarded a victory by default at No. 5 for the women. At No. 6, Katherine Pryor fought back from a 2-0 deficit to win her next two sets, 11-8 and 11-7, before falling in the decisive fifth - 6-11 - to Hillary Paisley.

The men improve to 5-3 on the season while the women fall to 1-5.

Both teams will be off until Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 when they host their alumni matches at 1 p.m.
