Women's squash overcomes Johns Hopkins on Senior Day

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's squash team secured a 7-2 victory over Johns Hopkins University Saturday afternoon on the Gardner Integrated Athletic Center squash courts.

The  32nd-ranked Fords (4-12) received strong contributions from throughout their lineup to win the last home contest of the season.

Haverford accomplished six of the seven wins in just three games. Freshman Samara Flug, at No. 9, registered the quickest victory by just giving up a scant four points to Jenna Maurer. Senior Zoe Becker, playing at No. 7, wasn't far behind as she only relinquished six points to Ariel Multak. Kira Jones, Randee Johnson, and Alisa Strayer also rolled to 3-0 victories.

Sophomore Caroline Nightingale, playing at her usual No.1  spot, survived a tough 12-10 battle in game one on her way to a three-game win.

Senior Roxanne Jaffe, at No. 6, gave a gutsy performance as she came from behind in game four to secure the overtime victory.

The contest marks the final home appearance for seniors Becker, Jones, Jaffe, and Kate Mundell.

The Fords return to action on Feb. 24 when they participate in the Howe Cup hosted by Harvard University.
