NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Haverford College women's squash team defeated New York University, 6-3, on Saturday night to qualify for the title match of the E Division at the College Squash Association (CSA) 2013 National Team Championships hosted by Yale University.

Registering their third win over the 38th-ranked Violets (1-9) this season, the Fords (6-11) moved quickly out to a 3-0 lead as Miriam Fuchs (No. 9), Samara Flug (No. 6) and Alex Love (No. 2) each rolled to three-game victories.

Hannah Miller, playing at No. 8, rallied from an 11-2 defeat in game one to take the next three from Lina Wang.

Seniors Randee Johnson and Alisa Strayer delivered the final two points of the night for No. 34 Haverford with 3-0 wins at Nos. 5 and 4, respectively.

In the last three matches of the contest, Bethany Simmonds (No. 2), Sarah Madigan (No. 7) and Caroline Nightingale (No. 1) suffered narrow five-game defeats.

Surpassing last season's win total with Saturday's victory, the Fords finished round-robin pool play undefeated and consequently qualified for the E Division title match against 33rd-ranked Tufts University (5-12). The Jumbos earned the spot in the championship with wins over the University of Rochester and the University of California, Berkeley.

Haverford and Tufts will do battle Sunday at the Brady Squash Center on the campus of Yale University at 10:30 a.m.
