Women's Squash Gets Pioneer Valley Invite Underway

SOUTH HADLEY, MASS. – The Haverford College women's squash team started the 2016 portion of its schedule tonight at the Pioneer Valley Invitational, falling 8-1 to the Connecticut College Camels on the campus of Mount Holyoke.

In her first match since returning from abroad, junior Isabel Agnew scored the only victory for Haverford, taking the last two games in a 3-1 win at the No. 4 ladder position.

Senior captain Emily Berlin earned two tight wins, gathering a 12-10 victory in game one and an 11-9 conquest in game three before a heartbreaking 3-2 loss. Senior Sarah Madigan fell in four games during her match. Senior captain Bethany Simmonds lost two close games, dropping an 11-9 decision (game one) and an 11-8 encounter (game three), before being foiled in three.

Haverford takes part in the second day of the Pioneer Valley Invitationaltomorrow (Jan. 16) vs. William Smith (12 p.m.) and Smith College (2:30 p.m.). Head coach Niki Clement's squad wraps up the weekend at Mount Holyoke on Sunday (Jan. 17) at 12 p.m.
