Full Academic All-Area Release

PHILADELPHIA – Haverford College women's squash senior co-captain Kaitlin Reese has been named to the 2019-20 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area At-Large team, the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA) announced in a release on Tuesday morning. The award is the second consecutive plaudit for the Charlottesville, Va. product. 

The Inquirer's at-large teams take into account those student-athletes from area schools whose sports do not have a dedicated Academic All-Area team. In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better.

The Environmental Studies major earns her second consecutive award from the association after anchoring the Fords at the top two spots in the lineup during 2019-20. Also a two time College Squash Association (CSA) Scholar Athlete selection, Reese will graduate as Haverford's all-time career wins leader, as she finished the 2019-20 campaign with 42 career individual match victories. Reese's selection represents the third straight season that a Haverford player has earned an Academic All-Area honor, as Isabelle Gotuaco '18 earned a spot on the team in 2017-18 ahead of the back-to-back awards from Reese. In total, the award is the seventh Academic All-Area award in program history dating back to the 2005-06 season. 

Haverford will take the No. 29 ranking into the offseason after finishing as the fifth-place team in the Epps Cup division at the CSA Team Championships at Yale in February. The Fords had another impressive campaign, as the squad won 10 matches for the first time since the 2014-15 season, equalling the most in program single-season history.
