No. 23 Women's Squash Falls to Connecticut College, 6-3

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - At the Wesleyan Round Robin, the No. 23 Haverford College women's squash team (4-4) was defeated by No. 30 Connecticut College (2-7) on Saturday as play continued at the Rosenbaum Squash Center. Haverford fell by a 6-3 final as the Camels avenged an earlier Fords win in the series between the two teams on November 19 at Vassar. 

Haverford received its two match wins on Saturday at the first flight and the third flight. Ariana Solecki battled at the top flight, taking down Rachel Matamoros in a five-game thriller 6-11, 11-6, 11-13, 11-9, 11-2). After dropping the opening game, Solecki took the second and fourth games, setting up a decisive fifth game. In that battle, Solecki turned up the throttle for an 11-2 victory.

Caroline Smith was also a winner at the third flight, with her four-game win over Miranda Medina. Smith took the first two games, including a marathon 15-13 win in the second, but dropped the third in extra points, falling by a 12-10 final to set up a fourth. Smith again delivered a relatively straightforward win in that frame, notching an 11-6 win over Medina, securing another tally for Haverford. 

Catherine Fortin took a tough-luck loss at the second flight, battling Ainsley Ellison but falling in four games (11-7, 9-11, 11-8, 11-5). Amelia Stevens also logged a triumph at the fourth flight, prevailing over Crystal Dickinson in four games, responding from a second-game loss to rattle off 11-2 and 11-4 wins in a comprehensive performance. 

The Fords now return to action tomorrow at approximately 10:30 a.m, wrapping up the Wesleyan Round Robin with a matchup against No. 21 Brown.
