HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's track team took full advantage of its final tune-up before the Centennial Conference championships as the Fords excelled on and off the track Friday night during the Keogh Invitational at the Gary Lutnick Tennis & Track Center in Alumni Field House.

Highlighting the night's events was a record-breaking performance by the distance medley relay (DMR) team of Katie Balmer, Cara Keifer, Nora Weathers and Fiona Hendry. The quartet finished in 12 minutes, 9.79 seconds to finish in second place by a narrow margin to Muhlenberg College (12:09.20). The new program mark, the third-fastest time in the Centennial and ninth-best time in all of Division III this season, shatters the previous record of 12:16.85 set in 2006 by Darian Lunne, Aislin Sowash, Annick Lamar and Kate Reese.

The record-setting night by the DMR capped a strong performance in relays by Haverford throughout the meet. The 4x200 team of Makeda Carroll, Hannah Davis, Jade Andrade and Kimberly Carlomagno finished first with a time of 1:51.14 which ranks third on the conference performance list while the 4x400 team finished second.

Andrade was solid throughout the competition as she finished second in the 60 meter dash and added an eighth-place finish in the 200.

Another relay team member who shined in her individual event was Davis with an indoor-best performance of 1:00.97 in the 400 meter run that was good for second. Sedona Murphy and Jennifer Whealdon finished in eighth and ninth, respectively, with career-best efforts.

Career-best times permeated the Haverford results of the mile as Sheera Rosenbaum placed third in 5:20.59 and Andrea Tocci closely followed in 5:20.88. Bridget Gibbons (5:23.46) and Bridget Freeley (5:26.85) placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Each of the top-10 times was a new career-best mark.

Emily Scott put forth a sound effort in the 3,000 with a third-place finish of 10:46.73 while freshman Csilla Vamos earned fifth in her first collegiate attempt at that distance. 

The Fords' impressive night was not limited to just the track as Emma Kornetsky placed first in the long jump with a career-best distance of 5.13 meters (16 feet, 10.00 inches). Carolyn Oehrig provided another high finish with a season-best mark of 9.94m (32-07.25) in the triple jump that was good for third. Oehrig and Robin Chernow accounted for a pair of fourth-place showings in the high jump and shot put, respectively.

Looking to take momentum from another solid performance from throughout the roster, Haverford sets its sights on the Centennial championships hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday. The schedule of events begins at 10 a.m.
