MEDFORD, Mass. – The Haverford College indoor track & field teams each competed at the Tufts Final Qualifying Meet in hopes of locking up a spot in the NCAA Division III Championship. Turns out, the Fords got just what they were looking for as the women's distance medley relay broke the school record set less than a month ago.

The relay team of Amelia Keyser-Gibson, Kerry Quigley, Katie Sullivan, and Nora Weathers finished in a time of 11:49.44 to place second in the field behind Centennial Conference foe Johns Hopkins. The Fords' new school record is 16.87 seconds faster than the time they clocked back in mid-February.

In addition to topping its previous best time by nearly 17 seconds, Haverford now owns the third fastest time in Division III as of press time. Today's result would have been the second fastest mark in the country had it not been for the Blue Jays' relay at Tufts on Friday.

The Fords also had single individual entrants on the men's and women's sides. Jeffrey Ainsley, the school record in the 60 meter hurdles, placed fifth in that event on Friday evening with a finals time of 8.49 seconds. Nicole Giannetti won the second section of the 3,000 meter race in a time of 10:11.72 and placed eighth overall in the field of 19 runners.

Both the men's and women's track & field teams will now look towards the NCAA Championship. In addition to the women's DMR, Weathers is currently ranked 12th in the mile, while Keyser-Gibson is ranked 19th in the 5,000 meters heading into the final qualifying meets. The top 17 declared individuals will compete at the NCAA Championship on the women's side.

On the men's side, the Fords' DMR is also ranked third in Division III. Individually, Charlie Marquardt owns the top Division III time in both the mile and the 3,000 meters this season. The men's side takes the top 15 declared individuals to the national meet.

The NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship will get underway on Friday, March 11 and will continue into Saturday, March 12 in Grinnell, Iowa.
