Women's Indoor T&F Posts Six Wins Over Widener In Holiday Dual Meet

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford women's indoor track and field team registered six head-to-head victories over Widener on Thursday night at the Alumni Field House on the Haverford campus as the Fords hosted the annual Holiday Duel Meet before the winter break.

Taylor Murphy set a personal record to finish first in the 60m hurdles in a time of 9.37 while Mairead Ferry finished in second with a time of 9.54. Murphy claimed a second event title on the evening with a triumph in the 200m, finishing in 27.09 ahead of Grace Pindzola (30.26).

The women's 60m race featured Brittany Steele taking the crown in 8.11, ahead of Murphy (8.16) and Marisa Antinori (8.40). Amy Zamora finished the 400m in 1:07.65. In the 800m, Kathyrn Correia was the top finisher in 2:40.78.

Alison Love was Haverford's top finisher in the mile (5:36.61), ahead of Jolie Jaycobs (5:50.11), Julia Smith (5:56.33) and Alison Champagne (6:31.16).  Love set a new personal best in winning the event. The women's' 3000m saw Sophie Drew (10:56.48) and McKenna Krall (11:53.80) compete, as Drew narrowly missed a personal best en route to the title.

Ferry was the top pole vaulter on the night, clearing 2.95m to come out ahead of teammate Grace Mathis (2.65m).  Antinori posted a 4.93 in the long jump while Elizabeth Reikowski took an event title in the triple jump (10.38m). Claire Sargent (11.96m) topped Marina Urban of Widener in the shot put for the head-to-head win.

The Fords have now completed the 2016 portion of the indoor track and field schedule. Head Coach Fran Rizzo's team will be back in action after a holiday break on January 14 at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational in Lancaster, Pa. The meet is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m.
