Women's Track & Field Wins Six Events at McElligott Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Competing inside the Alumni Field House at the McElligott Invitational, the Haverford College women's indoor track & field team won three events on the track and three more in the field events during a highly successful home meet.

On the track, Taylor Murphy won both the 60 meter dash and 60 meters hurdles. She crossed the line in a time of 8.19 seconds to win the 60 meter hurdles with teammate Marissa Antinori finishing fifth (8.33 seconds) in that event. Murphy's winning time in the hurdles with just two-hundredths of a second off her personal best as she crossed the line in 9.36 seconds. The Fords' sophomore was also second in the 200 meters with a time of 26.79 seconds.

Katie Sullivan's win in the mile highlighted the distance events as she finished in a time of 5:06.47. Nicole Giannetti was third in that race with a time of 5:16.46, while Jolie Jaycobs won the second heat and earned a top 10 finish with a time of 5:40.95. Alison Champagne first second in the third heat with a mark of 6:12.50. Sullivan was also second in the 800 meters (2:21.81), while Sophie Drew (2:25.47) and Giannetti (2:29.55) were third and seventh, respectively.

In the 5,000 meters, Amelia Keyser-Gibson crossed the line in sixth place with a time of 19:07.01. MaryKate Cavanaugh also earned a top 10 finish in that event with a mark of 19:46.08.

Wrapping up the day on the track, the Fords' 4x400 relay team of Tess Oberholtzer, Murphy, Elizabeth Reikowski, and Amy Zamora placed fourth with a time of 4:22.62. Zamora was the Fords' top finisher in the 400 meters with her time of 1:06.62 to place eighth.

Reikowski joined Antinori and Claire Sargent as event winners in the field events. Reikowski's best triple jump was measured at a distance of 10.35 meters to take home the individual title. Antinori won the long jump with her best leap being marked at 4.79 meters. Sargent won the shot put with her best throw of the season marking at 12.26 meters. Grace Mathis added a second place finish in the pole vault as she also placed ninth in the triple jump.

Women's indoor track & field will be back at home next weekend for the Keogh Invitational on Saturday, February 18. That meet is also scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m. and will be the team's final meet before the Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships to close out the month of February.
