Women's Track & Field Tunes Up for CC Championship at Keogh Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Chasing down final qualifying marks for next week's Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Fords hosted the Keogh Invitational on Saturday afternoon inside the Alumni Field House. The women's track & field team got an event victory from Jessica Lopez in the 200 meters to highlight the day's action.

Needing a qualifying time in her first try in the event this season, Lopez did that and more during the 200 meters as she crossed the line in a time of 26.79 seconds, guaranteeing her spot in the field where she placed second at last year's indoor championships and was an all-region performer. Already qualified in the 60 meter dash, Lopez finished that race in a time of 8.21 seconds to place sixth while teammate Marisa Antinori finished ninth with a time of 8.52 seconds. Lopez also was the runner-up in the triple jump with her best leap being marked at 10.26 meters (33'8").

Lauren Tanel added her name to the list of 400 meter qualifiers with her sixth-place finish in a time of 1:05.90 during the 400 meters. Jahsaiah Moses led the Fords in that event with a runner-up finish in 1:01.45. Marly Banatte (1:07.89) and Sophie Schleifer (1:09.99) also finished in the top 10 of that field.

With each of these 800 meter finishers already qualified to the conference championship. Jolie Jaycobs highlighted today's race with a time of 2:24.01 to finish third. Sheena Dwyer-McNulty (2:28.70) and Griffin Kaulbach (2:30.77) finished in the top 10 with fifth and ninth place finishes, respectively. Mariana Ramirez hit the conference mark yet again as she placed 11th (2:35.58).

Amalia Axinn led the Fords in the mile run as she placed fourth with a time of 5:31.72 to once again come in under the conference standard. Zoe Arditi and Maggie Doubman represented the Fords in the 3,000 meters with times of 12:03.85 and 12:13.31, respectively.

Haverford's throwers earned a top 10 finish in the shot put as Mari Horton's best toss was measured at 10.22 meters (33'-6.5"). Teammate Unique Tuberville was right behind her in 11th with a mark of 10.07 meters (33'-0.5"). Both of those throwers hit the conference marks in an event that had previously qualified numerous times.

It will also be Haverford's field event entrants that kick off the 2020 Centennial Conference Indoor Championships beginning next Saturday, February 29 with the weight throw and triple jump slated for 10:30 a.m. starts. Franklin & Marshall will serve as the host site for the conference championship which continues into Sunday, March 1.
