NEW YORK - The Haverford College women's track and field team opened in 2022 with a trip to the Armory in New York City for the TCNJ Indoor Invitational on Saturday evening. The Fords were one of 17 teams to take part in the annual meet.

Sophomore Emmeline Riendeau kicked things off for the Fords. Set to compete as a multi this season, Riendeau competed in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 12.74.

Two Fords competed in the 60-meter dash. In a deep field, Naomi Fukuda completed the race in 8.62. Helen Moniz finished in 9.06. Competing in the only field event for the Fords, sophomore Alice Creed cleared 2.90m in the pole vault, extending her climb up the Haverford record books as she now sits tied for fifth all-time in the indoor pole vault.

Lauren Tanel was the lone Ford in the one-mile race and represented well. The senior's time of 5:34.37 was good enough for 11th place in a field of 27 athletes. The time was a personal best for the senior, knocking 13 seconds off her previous personal best of 5:47.15, set back in 2018.

In the 400-meter dash, junior Jahsaiah Moses crossed the finish line in 1:03.42, finishing in the middle of the pack of 21 athletes. Shortly after, Rachel November competed in the 800-meter race. Her time of 2:33.86 was good enough for 22nd in a very deep field. Hedy Goodman (2:49.17), Maya Holmes (2:50.94), and Selena She (2:51.56) also took part in the four-lap race.

In her first time competing in the event, Isabel Thornberry earned a top ten finish in the 500 meter dash. The sophomore finished the race in 1:21.80 that saw 27 athletes compete. The mark was the third-best in Haverford indoor program history for the event.

In the 200-meter dash, sophomore Helen Moniz was listed as the only athlete for Haverford. She would finish the race in a time of 30.79.

Angie Petrichenko took home a fourth-place finish in the 3000-meter run. In what was a fantastic year for the senior in cross country, Petrichenko carried that momentum into the indoor season with a personal best of 10:16.72. The time bettered her previous best by an outstanding 53 seconds. Her previous personal best was 11:09.98, set on the same track in 2020 at the NYC Gotham Cup. The time was also the sixth-fastest in program history.

Haverford ended the night with a top ten finish in the 4x400 meter relay after Naomi Fukuda, Jahsaiah Moses, Isabel Thornberry, and Ella Fleming crossed the finish line with a time of 4:20.15.

The team next heads to Ursinus for the Collegeville Classic on Saturday, January 22. Action is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
