Women's Track & Field Ready for CC Indoor Championships at Ursinus

Centennial Conference Championship Central

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College indoor women's track & field team heads to Ursinus College on Saturday and Sunday for the 2022 Centennial Conference Championships. The event will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday and continue through late Sunday afternoon with 19 events slated on both the men's and women's sides of the action. Haverford has placed first or second in the team standings in 19 of the CC's 27 overall indoor championships.

The first event where Haverford will have a competitor is the pole vault (Saturday, 11:30 a.m.), where Alice Creed enters as the 11th seed with a mark of 3.05 meters. Creed etched a spot on Haverford's all-time list in the pole vault this season, where she currently sits in third in program history. At the Fastrack Invitational, Creed became the first Haverford vaulter to break ten feet since Grace Mathis in 2019.

Senior Naomi Fukuda will contest the 60 meter prelims (Saturday, 1 p.m.), where she enters with a seed time of 8.40. The final is slated for Sunday at 1:35 p.m. In the 5,000 meters (2 p.m Saturday) Angie Petrichenko is a strong contender with a top 50 time nationally under her belt (17:57.13).

Haverford has not run a distance medley relay (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.) this season, but enters as a major threat to medal in Collegeville, having won the event 11 times in program history. The women's 4x200 meter relay squad (Saturday, 4:10 p.m.) remains undefeated so far in 2022, with Naomi Fukuda, Jahsaiah Moses, Isabel Thornberry and Rachel November all keeping opponents at bay during regular season action on the track.

The women's 400 meters (Sunday, 12:40 p.m.) figures to be another strong event for the Fords, with Isabel Thornberry contesting the event with the third-best seed time in the conference. A podium finish will be the expectation despite a loaded field that includes two JHU runners who have gone under one minute in the distance.

The 3,000 meters (Sunday, 3 p.m.) will see a pair of talented harriers in Angie Petrichenko (10:17.43) and Katie Hirsche (10:35.72) battle for medals before the event concludes with the 4x800 meter relay (Sunday, 3:55 p.m.) and 4 x400 meter relay (Sunday, 4:15 p.m.)  The Fords will look to continue a strong run of relay success as Haverford has captured 34 total relay championships.

Live video and live results from all 19 events from both genders will be available throughout the weekend of competition. A full schedule of the 2022 Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships is also available through the Centennial Conference Championship webpage.
