COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College women's indoor track & field team took to Ursinus College on Saturday to compete on the first day of the 2022 Centennial Conference Championships. The first day of championships is usually dedicated to multi-events and many relays and preliminary rounds. However, the Fords put themselves in a good position with some strong performances heading into the final day of competition on Sunday. Haverford currently sits in fifth with 14 total points.

Jahsaiah Moses earned her ticket to day two after qualifying for the 60-meter hurdle finals. Her preliminary run of 10.12 was good enough to place her fifth in the qualifying heats. The time was also good enough for a personal record, as her previous best was 10.21. This is just the first year the junior has competed in the event and shows that she is a quick learner. Her prelims run today marked just the third time she has run the race, with all of them resulting in a personal best. Moses will look to continue the streak in the finals on Sunday (1:15 p.m.).

Angie Petrichenko turned in a stellar performance in the 5,000-meter run. The senior picked up a bronze medal as she finished third with a time of 17:25.40. Petrichenko completely shattered her previous personal best of 17:48.90 that she set back on February 11 of this season. At a glance, her time places her 16th on the national list. Still, that mark could change with a loaded weekend of Championships for many Division III conferences on the horizon. The time is second on Haverford's all-time indoor list for the 5,000-meter distance, leaping over Nicole Giannetti's time of 17:25.94 set in 2018.

Haverford ended day one registering points in the relays. In the distance medley Lauren Tanel, Ella Fleming, Dominique Monroy, and Katie Hirsche placed seventh running 13:02.62. The 4x200 meter relay set a new season's best to finish third overall, wrapping up a bronze medal in the process. The stalwart team of Naomi Fukuda, Jahsaiah Moses, Isabel Thornberry, and Rachel November clocked a 1:48.49. The relay also cracked Haverford's top-ten list, settling into ninth place with that time.

The competition continues on Sunday, February 27, to bring championship weekend to an end. Again, live video and live results from all 19 events from both genders will be available throughout the weekend of competition. A full schedule of the 2022 Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships is also available through the Centennial Conference Championship webpage.
