WINSTON SALEM, N.C. - Representing Haverford at the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at the JDL Fast Track, senior Angie Petrichenko (Bellingham, Wash.) notched a 13th place finish in the women's 5,000 meters, outpacing her 17th seed with a time of 17:29.84 in the loaded field of the nation's 20 fastest distance athletes.

Petrichenko, the bronze medalist in the Centennial Conference for the event, finished ahead of the silver medalist from that race, Sydney Friedel of Johns Hopkins, winning that head to head battle by under a second. The two Centennial Conference foes crossed nearly in tandem. The event was won by Kassie Parker, the cross country national champion, of Loras College in a course record of 16:15.06. Ari Marks of Wellesley also bested the previous course record with a 16:19.20 finish as the two battled on the final lap with Parker edging the Wellesley runner with a final kick.

Haverford has now sent 20 individual qualifiers to the national indoor meet in program history, as well as one relay squad, earning 17 All-America finishers in total. Petrichenko, an All-American during the cross country season, is the first Haverford runner to earn qualification to the NCAA Division III national meet since Katie Sullivan qualified for the mile in 2017.

Petrichenko and the rest of the Fords will now look forward to the outdoor campaign, as Haverford is hopeful for some fast times in good weather at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener. The event will run from April 1-2.
