HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College sophomore Anastasia Jaycobs (Nantucket, Mass./Concord Academy) was named a first-team All-Centennial Conference selection in the 800 meters, while junior Sarah Wilcher (Indianapolis, Ind./Park Tudor) earned second-team honors in the weight throw, the conference office announced Thursday.
Additionally, senior Summer Ryan (New York, N.Y./NCDS) was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.
Jaycobs delivered a standout performance in the 800 meters at the Centennial Conference Championships, capturing the event title with a time of 2:21.85. She edged out Johns Hopkins' Lorna Arcese at the finish line to secure 10 crucial points for the Fords. This marks Jaycobs' first indoor track honor after earning USTFCCCA All-Region recognition in cross-country last November.
Wilcher was named second-team All-Centennial Conference following her record-breaking performance in the weight throw at the Centennial Conference Indoor Championships. Seeded 11th entering the event, Wilcher unleashed a throw of 52 feet, 2 inches—shattering the previous Haverford program record of 46-4.25, set by Unique Tuberville '20. The silver-medal performance helped the Fords to a strong start on the opening day of competition at Franklin & Marshall.
Sportsmanship is a core value of NCAA Division III and the Centennial Conference. The Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who exemplify respect, fairness, civility, honesty, and responsibility both on and off the field of play. Ryan, who has primarily competed in the throws and jumps this season, placed 14th in the shot put at the Centennial Conference Championships.
The Fords will now continue into outdoor competition, opening the season on March 28 at the Danny Curran Invitational in Chester, Pa. on the campus of Widener University.
