Fords roll past Ursinus, 3-0

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Sophomore Madison Fuelling and freshman Keri Godbe led a strong defensive effort by the Haverford College volleyball team Wednesday night as it registered a 3-0 sweep of host Ursinus College in Centennial Conference action.

Fuelling tallied 13 digs while Godbe had 12 as the Fords (12-4, 3-1 CC) limited the Bears (6-10, 2-3) to a mere .080 attack percentage on their way to the straight-set victory (25-18, 25-21, 28-26). Not one Ursinus player managed double-digits in kills due to Haverford's defensive presence.

Also asserting herself on offense, Godbe took game-high honors with 11 kills while middle hitter Meg O'Day added nine. Freshman Olivia Walsh contributed 24 assists and tied her career-high with four service aces.

Anahi McIntyre and Kayla McLeod paced the Bears with eight kills apiece. Kaitlyn Ott had a game-high 14 digs.

Having played their last seven contests on the road, the Fords look forward to returning to the comfortable confines of home on Oct. 6. Haverford faces Centennial front-runner Franklin & Marshall College at noon in the opening contest of a tri-match at Gooding Arena. A non-conference match-up against Richard Stockton College at 4 p.m. will conclude Saturday's action.
