Godbe Selected to Inquirer's Academic All-Area Team

PHILADELPHIA – Junior Keri Godbe of the Haverford College volleyball team was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer's 2014 Volleyball Academic All-Area Team as released by the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA).

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of the 29 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Godbe was named to the All-Centennial Conference first team for the second straight year after finishing third in the conference in kills (414) and digs (456). The junior also reached the 1,000 career kill plateau during the season and currently ranks fourth in program history with 1,181 kills.

The Rapid City, S.D. native tallied 20 double-doubles this season, helping the Fords' to the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Haverford received an at-large bid and won its first round match vs. SUNY New Paltz in three sets. It was the program's first NCAA tournament win since the 2009 season.

In the Fords' five-set win at Swarthmore which gave Haverford the right to host the conference tournament, Godbe tied a season-best with 24 kills and added 21 digs. 

The two-time All-Centennial Conference first team member was also named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll the past two seasons.

On the court, Godbe is third all-time in kills per set (3.56), sixth in points per set (3.95), seventh in reception percentage (.919) and points (1,311.5) and 10th in digs (1,208). She is one of only four players in Fords' history to have at least 1,200 digs and 1,100 kills.

Alyssa Drachslin (Temple), Madison Heppe (Swarthmore), Katrina Pisch (Eastern), Olivia Rowland (Rutgers-Camden), Regina Trabosh (Chestnut Hill) and Jennifer Whelan (La Salle) were also voted to the Philadelphia Inquirer 2014 Volleyball Academic All-Area Team. Pisch was named the Performer of the Year.
