Waldis named Scholar of Distinction by NFHCA

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Freshman midfielder Sarah Waldis has been named a Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) 2012 Division III Scholar of Distinction.

The 140 student-athletes selected for the scholars list achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year.

Waldis was one of 10 Centennial Conference field hockey players to earn inclusion this year.

The 2012 season ended in the Centennial tournament championship game for the No. 19 Fords and Waldis, who started all 19 games in her first year with the program. The defensive middie registered a team-leading three defensive saves over the course of the season and added three assists during Haverford's 14-win campaign which tied a program record for wins in a season.

Waldis was also one of Haverford's 15 student-athletes who were named to the Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA D-III 2012 National Academic Squad released earlier in the week.
