Field Hockey Receiving Votes in Latest NFHCA Poll

Full NFHCA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – After a 7-0 start to the 2021 season, the Haverford College field hockey team is receiving votes in the weekly National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Poll, the organization announced in a release on Tuesday afternoon.

The Fords are one of five unranked squads to receive votes in the latest release of the top 20. For comparison, No. 20 SUNY Cortland moves into the ranking this week with 123 total voting points. Haverford checks in with 76 total voting points. Conference foe Johns Hopkins is No. 2 in the nation while Franklin & Marshall checks in eighth, and Ursinus is tabbed 15th.

On Saturday, the Fords came away with a 2-0 victory over the No. 8 team in the nation, Rowan, at Swan Field. Haverford has sprinted out to the best start in program history and are just one win shy of matching the program's all-time longest win streak. The shutout of Rowan was Haverford's highest-ranked victory since an October 2010 victory over Eastern. Haverford is the only team in Division III to reach seven wins thus far in 2021.

Hannah Roth was picked as Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after logging her third shutout of the season over the Profs. The Fords have outscored opponents 21-5 this season, and have held the opposition to just 46 shots with a staunch defensive effort. Offensively, the attack has been paced by Ravenel Davis, as the senior captain leads the Centennial in goals (10), points (20), and shots (35) while junior Olivia Ahart tops the conference with six assists.

The Fords next return to action on Saturday, taking on McDaniel in the Centennial Conference opener on Swan Field. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
